﻿{"id":7,"date":"2008-10-13T18:32:39","date_gmt":"2008-10-13T23:32:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/clavisjewellery.userblogs.ganoksin.coms\/?p=3"},"modified":"2008-10-13T18:32:39","modified_gmt":"2008-10-13T23:32:39","slug":"this-is-me-robin-key","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/clavisjewellery\/2008\/10\/13\/this-is-me-robin-key\/","title":{"rendered":"This is me &#8211; Robin Key"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">I initially trained at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen Scotland many years ago as a part time student and later was taught stone setting by the renowned setter and master jeweller Peter Robinson.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">I started Clavis Jewellery\u00a0 (Clavis is Latin for Key) as a part time business before moving on to full time mostly selling through galleries and craft fairs. Initially I worked almost exclusively with silver, now gold forms an equal part of my repertoire.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Much of my work comes from commissions from a regular growing clientele.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">My inspiration comes from a variety of sources \u2013 from nature, from architecture and from the materials themselves. Often it is a gemstone, a piece of shell that guides me to give the piece its final shape and dimension.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">To me making jewellery is a passion not just a vocation, time seems to stop when I am working in my studio. Like most craft jewellers I learn and develop new techniques constantly and strive to make that one extra special piece that I feel will be my \u201cpi\u00e8ce de resistance\u201d but you make one and see another on the horizon.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">I fabricate all of my work in as traditional manner as is practical to be still profitable &#8211; it\u00a0can easily be forgotten that the aim is to make a living.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">The area where I live is close by where much of the other Scottish &#8220;gold&#8221; is crafted in the many well known whisky distilleries.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">It is heartening to know that there are still discerning people that can appreciate hand crafted jewellery made in the traditional manner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I initially trained at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen Scotland many years ago as a part time student and later was taught stone setting by the renowned setter and master jeweller Peter Robinson.
