The Jewelers Ethics Association <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>(JEA) is a new organization formed to promote and <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>support ethical business practices within the trade by <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>providing information, education and mediation for <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>consumers and the industry.  Membership is open to all <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>members of the trade, as well as consumers. <\/span><\/span><span><span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past several years a widening gap has formed <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>between consumers and the trade regarding information <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>and knowledge,&#8221; explains JEA President Lisa Brooks-Pike.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>&#8220;No medium such as a consumer reporting organization <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>exists for our industry, and there is very little <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>enforcement of the FTC guidelines. We hope to help <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>bridge this gap&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>JEA industry members must agree to do business in <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>accordance with the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewelersethicsassociation.com\/ethics\"><span><span>JEA&#8217;s <\/span><\/span><\/a><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewelersethicsassociation.com\/ethics\"><span><span>strict Code of Ethics<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span>.  They will <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>receive frequent updates regarding the latest <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>advancements in treatments and synthetics, as well as <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>educational tips to help train their employees.
