…it has everything to do with the future…with instilling in school kids an interest in Rocks, Gems and the World around them.
When I am thinking about charitable giving I always try to tie it in to the fields that interest me. Jewelry as an “Arts Program” is being cut from most school curriculums – BUT – you can always find an Earth Sciences teacher who needs help with rocks for classroom activities or buses to take a fieldtrip to the Natural History Museum.
The reason that I always check Donors Choose first is that I get to direct where my funds go – so look to see what the needs are in your region and help some school kids today! The first time I got a huge envelope of thank you notes from a classroom of 3rd Graders that spent an afternoon at the LA Museum of Natural History the feeling was overwhelming.
Donors Choose just completed a great Back To School Campaign – thousands of people joined to meet the needs of students and teachers heading back to school in America’s Back to School Challenge!
