A Local Legend
Free Home, Georgia
Down along one of Free Home’s unpaved roads, you will find a girl selling corn. However, this innocent farm hand has been dead for 72 years yet has become a local legend to this sleepy town. Starting in 1942, many claimed to have seen this specter and have also claimed to have tasted ‘the sweetest corn in the world’. But when it comes time to pay, the young girl turns and walks away saying “it’s on the house. It’s a free world after all”.

I guess I won’t be posting about my family on my blog any longer!
I might not read your blog, but I don’t read anyone else’s either. Wait, I just read yours and my feelings are now hurt.
Hi TeriI loved the story the first time I read it a few years ago. I remember another local story, but have been unable to rediscover the information again. Will keep researching, hopefully will find the story before Halloween.Busy creating, but my camera is kinda broken, so photos are a real problem. Hope to find a solution later this week.Hugs, jill
Actually, it’s a lovely story, folklore and all—don’t we wish that would occur more often, with people we all know? Love your work, Jill, keep creating. Terihttp://www.sandtcreations.com
I thought that with Halloween just around the corner, this was the perfect time to post this local legend.
Creepy.
