The weather here has been gorgeous. I will miss the sun shining later as of tomorrow.
Making a melting furnace sounds fun! Enjoy the project, I am sure your “student” is eager to learn and in good hands.
Fall has fallen, nice weather and a high school student has asked me to help him make a bronze melting furnace, nice to be wanted. He is having all kinds of problems building one and getting all kinds of conflicting advice from all over the world too. Time for the old phart to step in and show him how the low tech guys make it happen. They were casting bronze five thousand years ago low tech and all these other guys are giving him advice suitable for a modern production foundry not a backyard hobby melt. Some thing apply like safety no matter how big your pour or how small, you still got to be safe. Same with working with anything how, right? Safety first always, you don’t want to burn down the studio, the house or the neighborhood. Always something needs to be taken into account about keeping the body safe too, face mask, leathers, fumes, whatever it takes.
