Trunk Show in SF – Aug. 27th

by micheledodge on July 12, 2006

I’ll be participating in a trunk show in San Francisco next month. I’ll post a flyer here once I have a flyer to post. It should be a lot of fun – there will be food and a wide variety of arts and crafts for perusal and purchase! Mark your calendars!

I started working on my necklace for the contest today. Contest deadline is the end of August, so I’d like to get a jump on it. I made a bracelet to enter, but I’m not entirely satisified with it, so I’ll be restringing the whole thing. I have a vague design in mind for earrings to enter into the contest, but I’m still working out the details – I’m thinking amethyst, Swarovski crystals, peacock pearls for the earrings… I’ll be sure to post pics when I get my submission photos together!

I’ve gotta find my old point-n-shoot and get some shots of what I’ve been working on. I’ve been doing some wire-wrapped bracelets lately, and one pearl bracelet that I’m extremely pleased with.

Question of the day: Which sci-fi show has the best theme music? The worst? Best and worst opening sequences?

Spaceballs is a Scifi Comedy, but it’s a movie…

DarkStar might be a comedy. It’s very funny, but I’m not sure if it was meant to be.

You MUST see Red Dwarf. It’s the only sci-fi comedy out there, as far as I know.

Cleopatra 2525 was a B-flick type show…

I didn’t like the Andromeda opening too. The show bordered on being a B-type, but it had good space ships. Though, the slipstream graphics sucked donkey balls.

I really haven’t watched much Farscape too. Perhaps I’ll get season one sometime.

Haven’t seen Red Dwarf either.

Remember Earth 2 from 1990? It was a show on Fox for a year. It wasn’t as good as FireFly which had the same running.

Yeah, I dig the Firefly music too. I sing that song often.

I haven’t seen Cleopatra 2525, so I can’t comment on it.

My least favorite opening sequence is seasons 3-4 of Andromeda. “The universe is a dangerous place, and in our future, my crew and I fight to make it safe.” Puke.

Pretty much anything is my favorite compared to that Andromeda thing. hehe. Farscape seasons 1-2 has a good opening sequence and theme music.

Firefly has gotta be my favorite theme song, though.

Red Dwarf has my second-favorite theme song. “I want to lie, shipwrecked and comatose, drinking fresh mango juice. Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes… fun, fun, fun! In the sun, sun, sun!” lol

FireFly has good music, but it might be one of the reasons people didn’t like it. It was too cowboyish for them. They couldn’t appreciate the connection the space frontier has with the old west.

Worst would be Cleopatra 2525. That’s just horrible. The show itself was really trash too. The basis of the show was OK, but it was done all wrong. The story lines could have been better too. Thirty minute sci-fi shows need to be more connective and not try to tell a whole story in one showing.

The best sequence was the original Star Trek. Willy Shat really knows how to lay a phat skat.

The X-Files was really bad. It’s so forgettable, that the only thing I can recall about it is the annoying music. They should have played it with a piano instead of that synthesized thing.
