“I have ADD, so I get bored easily. This leads to many different creations.” -Paula Manning-Lewis
How did you get started making your art?
Art has been my passion all of my life. I took every art class available in high school and dropped out my senior year, partly because there were no more art classes to take! I always knew I wanted to be an artist but I didn’t start to take my art seriously until after the birth of my middle son in 1990. I wanted to be a stay at home mom and hoped for a part time income. I started by selling post cards of my work and graduated to full size prints after many requests.
What inspires you in your work?
Oddly enough, the depressing side of life inspires me. My art is a meditation. When I’m making art, I’m free and happy. I used to work in a realistic style but a couple of years ago I let go and started creating abstract art. I love using color and shapes to create happiness in the form of paintings.
What other jobs have you worked?
I have done many things, like I said, I get bored easily! I served in the US Army for two years. Worked as a picture framer for several years. I even worked as a substitute teacher for two years. My college degree is in computer drafting, but drafting was too rigid and I did that for only two years before coming back to my art.
PaulaM’s work is available for sale in her eBay store, her Etsy shop http://paulam.etsy.com, the New Mexico State Fair, and local outdoor markets. She also has a gallery show coming up in March at the House of Lyndon gallery in Gallup, NM.

You’re welcome. I’m so glad that you like it. I knew right away that I wanted that print at the top, but I had the hardest time deciding on two more images – so many great ones to choose from!
Thanks Chel! You did an awesome job!
