No More SG-1…

by micheledodge on August 10, 2007

I know I’m a bit behind the times, but I don’t have cable, so I have to wait for DVD’s to come out. Season 10 Stargate SG-1 came out last month, so I finally got caught up. I was really getting into the post-season 7 Stargate with Ben Browder and the Ori, so I was sad to see it all end. Prematurely, really. I’ll go see the movie, to be sure, but it doesn’t make up for ending the series.

Atlantis is a pretty good series, but I wish they’d been able to cast Ben Browder for it (he was busy with Farscape at the time…)

I really got a kick out of the silly season 10 episode “200.” I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s good when a show can poke fun at itself, even about its own demise. I don’t think they could possibly have packed any more inside jokes and zaniness into one episode.

Question of the Day: Do you think that SG-1’s demise was premature? How did you feel about post-season 7 SG-1?

I haven’t seen any interviews with Christopher Judge. I bet it would be interesting, though.

I liked those body swap episodes too.

Judge seems like an entirely different person on interviews.

I can see spam being a problem with your blogs. I’m really turned off by blogs that let them through. When looking for information, sometimes you have to read through blogs and those that are 90% spam are annoying.

I have developed a good sense of ignoring online ads on sites; but, when I have to read though a blog for one piece of information, I can’t help but actually read what the ad is pushing. I try to brain dump the ads as much as possible.

Someone from Etsy told me about a plug-in I could download for my blog that would do away with passwords, but still let me moderate comments. (I get spam on this blog every single day, so moderation is sadly needed.) So passwords are no longer needed. Yay!

I haven’t had much in the way of funds for anything outside of living and business expenses, but I set aside a tiny bit, and Stargate DVD’s are pretty much top of my list of fun things to buy. (I don’t have seasons 8&9, but I managed to find some copies to watch.)

RDA totally rocked SG-1. I didn’t think it would be possible to find someone else who would make the show interesting, but Ben Browder fit the bill. By the way, you should watch (download… ahem…) Farscape when you get a chance. It gets incredibly wacky, but it’s definitely worth watching.

I probably won’t read the Stargate books. I guess the thing that really makes the show for me is the actors. I always use the body swap episode in a sci-fi series to judge the talent of the actors. Christopher Judge’s impersonation of O’Neill was dead-on.

I liked the 200 episode too. I had to get a copy I “found” online.

At some point I’ll get seasons 8-10, but I haven’t had the budget for dvds. Fortunately, my wife’s house in Thailand is done and I can go back to saving money.

I think that the replacement for RDA would have been able to carry the show further.

I’m just happy that they’ll probably continue with books. I’ve read one of them. It wasn’t that good. The books don’t get good until they can go beyond the show, so the end of the show starts the good books.

I was pessimistic about not having RDA in SG-1; but, his replacement was great. The little jokes they made about the replacement made the transition more palpable.

I am upset about the portrayal of Marines in Atlantis. None of the Marines ever had a proper hair cut and all their rank insignia was pinned on the uniforms incorrectly. I could probably make a huge list of mistakes they made with Marines… all they needed to do was get one former USMC drill instructor as an advisor and they would have been fine.

I like the new blogging system with no passwords. I already have about 100 floating around my head… I don’t need anymore.
