Each of these earrings has a single flat oval green nephrite jade stone (14x10mm), accented by sterling silver beads, dangling from long hand-formed sterling silver ear wires. These earrings measure just a bit over 1 3/4 inches (45mm) in length from the tops of the ear wires.
Jade is one of my all-time favorite stones. Nephrite is one of the two types of "true jade" (the other is jadeite). Nephrite is also known as BC jade or Canadian jade.
About sterling silver:
Sterling silver is an alloy consisting of a minimum of 92.5% silver (the other 7.5% is typically copper). I choose to use solid sterling instead of plated metal in my work because it is my experience that plating wears off. Properly cared for sterling silver lasts a lifetime and beyond.
