Curious ingredients in David Huang’s Patina Workshop

by Jennifer Kenyon on June 2, 2010

This Summer we are hosting David Huang for his first ever patina workshop!  I recently got all the chemicals for this class and am curious how the solutions will be created to produce his amazing patinas.  Just one example is the 44/40 instant gun blue.  I had to order this solution online from a good ol’ gun supply store.  When I received it in the mail I got a pair of Huntin sox with my purchase.  Unfortunately I do not fit into mens sox but it was a nice gesture.

It is my understanding that Gun bluing is a patina for steele gun parts but can used on copper and brass for restoration purposes.  If you know anything more about this curious product please tell.
