{"id":31,"date":"2008-10-27T14:48:20","date_gmt":"2008-10-27T19:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pixieprincess.userblogs.ganoksin.coms\/?p=31"},"modified":"2008-10-27T14:48:20","modified_gmt":"2008-10-27T19:48:20","slug":"packing-and-frustrations-de-los-muertos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/pixieprincess\/2008\/10\/27\/packing-and-frustrations-de-los-muertos\/","title":{"rendered":"Packing and frustrations de los muertos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s an interesting task to try to pack a working studio.\u00a0 Obviously, I need to pack up all but the most essential of my toys, ahem, tools.\u00a0 Some tools that I once used often, have been the first to return to the box.\u00a0 After a year here, there are still a select few tools that haven&#8217;t even seen the light of day (vacuum caster).\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s time for a swap or perhaps a few posts on Craigslist.\u00a0 A purging maybe in order&#8230; though I will have more room to work with in the new place, so perhaps they will all get set up and used!\u00a0 Casting party at my house! Eventually! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>As usual, I am trying to wrap my head around entering shows.\u00a0 I usually find out about them too late to formulate and execute a worthwhile idea.\u00a0 I recently saw a Call to Artists for a Dia de los Muertos show at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mkartcenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maude Kerns Art Center<\/a>.<br \/>\nI thought it would be super fun to do a triptych or maybe even more colorful enameled sugar skulls.\u00a0 I just finished the first one.\u00a0 Everything about it was ruled by Murphy&#8217;s Law.\u00a0 It is warped.\u00a0 I knocked the enamel out of place many, many times.\u00a0 It chipped and I pierced the end of my finger\u00a0deeply with the glass.\u00a0I just cannot\u00a0imagine making another at this point, much less several.\u00a0 I went in with a KISS* attitude\u00a0 (using handmade stencils and acrylic enamel paints) and found it to be not\u00a0simple in the least. grumble grumble grumble.
