﻿{"id":12,"date":"2010-04-30T01:28:58","date_gmt":"2010-04-29T15:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/suzannecronin.userblogs.ganoksin.coms\/?p=12"},"modified":"2011-05-21T10:36:31","modified_gmt":"2011-05-21T00:36:31","slug":"new-arrival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/suzannecronin\/2010\/04\/30\/new-arrival\/","title":{"rendered":"New Arrival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It may seem odd, but it was\u00a0getting our puppy\u00a0<a title=\"Theo\" href=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CBKQ36RjSek[\/youtube]\" target=\"_self\">Theo\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0was the catalyst for working on\u00a0the studio.\u00a0 New puppy = new fence = meeting a good builder.\u00a0 This is significant as nobody in our house is capable of changing a light bulb let alone doing DIY!<\/p>\n<p>While talking fencing I dropped the bombshell &#8220;&#8230;would you mind taking a look at the laundry?&#8221;\u00a0 The response to &#8220;do you\u00a0think I could squeeze a bench in&#8221;\u00a0 was &#8220;why not knock out a wall\u00a0and have one big room?&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0My making the\u00a0decision to go ahead, after seven years, came down to the job being\u00a0so simple&#8230;for a builder!\u00a0 This was in June last year, just before a trip to Europe, hence the fence for the dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Building was due to start late August.\u00a0 I put down my ideas on paper, a plan.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I discovered <span class=\"BreadCrumb-2\"><a title=\"Bench Exchange\" href=\"http:\/\/www.userblogs.ganoksin.com\/exhibition\/v\/BenchExchange\/\">Bench Exchange<\/a>\u00a0in <a title=\"The Ganoksin Project\" href=\"http:\/\/www.userblogs.ganoksin.com\/index.htm\">The Ganoksin project<\/a>,\u00a0 a fantastic website and that gave me enough ideas to attempt\u00a0a Google Sketch Up\u00a0draft drawing.\u00a0 And here it is, my wishful thinking:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"BreadCrumb-2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/suzannecronin\/files\/2010\/04\/overall-plan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/suzannecronin\/files\/2010\/04\/overall-plan-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I studied AutoCAD for two years but I\u00a0had to go to the Furniture Department because it wasn&#8217;t\u00a0considered part of Jewellery.\u00a0 I never got it.\u00a0 Just too mathematical for me, way over my head.\u00a0 That was in London in 2000.\u00a0 In Melbourne I\u00a0attended a Digital Workbench workshop (great name)\u00a0introducing Rhino and I had my first taste of CAD\/CAM in 2002.\u00a0 The current\u00a0prospect of getting\u00a0my tools out again and fiddling with Sketch Up reignited my interest in CAD.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Do you think anyone teaches\u00a0it in Victoria?\u00a0 Nope, the best I can\u00a0find is a unit in\u00a0an Architecture Course.\u00a0 To learn as a private student is just too costly, let alone the price of the software.\u00a0 I thought it would have been a major part of jewellery design in this Century and as such would be taught\u00a0as a basic design tool.\u00a0 Maybe it is, just not where I live!\u00a0 Online I&#8217;ve been looking at Matrix, JewelCad, 3 Design, Rhino and MOI.\u00a0 All this led me to\u00a0the Jewellery Fair in Brisbane to see them in action and talk with\u00a0some company reps.<\/p>\n<p>With a couple of hefty edits to finish, I have to leave my research for now but\u00a0MOI looks really promising and I&#8217;m looking forward to trying it out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It may seem odd, but it was\u00a0getting our puppy\u00a0Theo\u00a0\u00a0that\u00a0was the catalyst for working on\u00a0the studio.\u00a0 New puppy = new fence = meeting a good builder.\u00a0 This is significant as nobody in our house is capable of changing a light bulb let alone doing DIY!
