<\/a>I have been chatting with Rainforest Design<\/a> on Twitter (she is @RainforestDesign) \u00a0and since we are both in Tucson we decided to meet up! \u00a0I have to tell you I have a new favorite vendor for carvings. \u00a0These are cameo type carved shell but done in a whole new way! \u00a0<\/span>

\nYou won’t confuse these with your grandmother’s Italian cameos…these are fresh new designs of flora and fauna, and everything in between, that the indigenous people in\u00a0Panama are famous for carving in tagua. \u00a0<\/span>

\n<\/span>

\n<\/span><\/span>
\nThe cameos are carved from the Queen\u2019s Helmet shell (Cassis madagascariensis spinella) found in the waters of the Caribbean, also known as \u201cSardonyx\u201d. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Sweet butterflies and hummingbirds sit next to frogs and geckos with a sea-life assortment on the next shelf.<\/span>

\nThese are modern pieces that will become the cherished heirlooms of your grandchildren.<\/span>
