Its alright having static files of jewellery items but what a waste of time.

I am now 62 years old and have been in the industry for 45 years.

At one time I didn’t think of saving time but when I was creating the same item on the old style Rhino based program. I didn’t know any difference. When my customer wanted the design a bit different to the one I had just created the last thing that was on my mind was the waste of time to change the design to my customers needs. But these programs were all you had to work with. They created great results but all the files you have are worthless because you cannot change them. Just one off creations. Thousands of them lost in your archives.

To you they are valuable but commercially they are spent. They are protected by you incase someone STEALS your idea but unless you are casting them commercially and are not a bespoke piece for single client the file is valueless. It is only good for one customer and you probably charged around $150,00 of your time for creating the PATTERN ON CAD. But of course when you sold the ring you would have made a handsome profit. But is a one off and the file will not be used again.

If they are commercially sold pieces someone will see a picture of your design and copy the design in Cad for themselves if it is a good looking piece. So you don’t have to worry about being knocked off.

I can tell you a secrete that I have leant through the years. There is nothing new and everytime you think there is 10 other people will be making the same concept as you at the same time you are thinking about it. This is free advice based on my experience.

Now time is the most valuable commodity. I saw a pattern that a young person probably of the Y generation posted on face book and I liked the concept that she had designed but she had designed it using a Rhino based program. Her file is of no value. I posted a comment “can you alter the design”. It was her first item that she had created and I say congratulations. You are a new up and coming star. Keep it up. You will see my comment on her page and please give her the thumbs up because all new designers need it.

Before I found Jewelry Cad Dream I was stuck like that on the old style jewellery cad programs but now I have changed to the new generation 2014 Jewelry Cad Dream I don’t have to worry. I can change an part of the file at any time. Check it out, www,jewelrycaddream.com

Like I said TIME cannot be reclaimed and the Rhino based programs are a waste of your time.

www.thehouseofstratton.co.nz

or

www.jewelrycaddream.com

I should know.

Allan

Other programs create fantastic results but you have to keep inventing the wheel.
