JANUARY METALS WEEKEND WORKSHOP<\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

JANUARY 18, 19, 20 2013<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 5 Friday<\/p>\n

9-5 Saturday<\/p>\n

9-4 Sunday<\/p>\n

$50\/day includes shop fee but NOT supplies<\/p>\n

Maximum of four people!<\/p>\n

FRIDAY:\u00a0 TEXTURE TIME<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Friday we will learn a number of different ways to texture metal prior to forming it.\u00a0 Instruction will include:<\/p>\n

using a Rolling Mill with various surfaces to texture metal<\/p>\n

using a hydraulic press with various surfaces to texture metal<\/p>\n

using hammers, stamps and punches to texture metal<\/p>\n

using various substances with hammers to texture metal<\/p>\n

using the torch to texture metal<\/p>\n

using tools in the flex shaft to create textures<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SATURDAY:\u00a0 SET THAT STONE<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Saturday you will use metal you textured as a design element as you set several stones in various ways. \u00a0We will work on your choice of:<\/p>\n

cold setting (mechanically setting stones with no torch work)<\/p>\n

wire wrapping (also uses no torch)<\/p>\n

bezel setting (using a torch)<\/p>\n

prong setting (using a torch)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SUNDAY: – FINISH IT RIGHT<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The last day will focus on various finishing techniques.\u00a0 This will include:<\/p>\n

Using the large polishing cabinet with various buffs<\/p>\n

Using various tools in a flex shaft to create textures and finishes<\/p>\n

Using pumice<\/p>\n

Using steel wool and various sanding techniques<\/p>\n

Some basic patinas<\/p>\n

Use of a rotary tumbler<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This workshop is suitable for beginners up, as I will take you from whatever level you are on and help you work on YOUR projects.\u00a0 There will not be \u201cset\u201d projects.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You are welcome to bring your own supplies (metal and stones), or you may purchase supplies from me.\u00a0 Feel free to bring lots of extra supplies you think you might want to incorporate into your pieces.<\/p>\n

If you plan to bring your own tools, please be sure to have them clearly marked with your name!<\/p>\n

This workshop will be for a maximum of four people per day.<\/p>\n
