I just like to challenge myself, trying new things, keeping my skillz fresh.\u00a0 ANYONE could make something like this using all of those new high techy tools that you could buy from Rio Grande or Contenti.\u00a0 Saws, Flex-Shafts, and those luxurious files just clutter the creativity.\u00a0 Don’t get all hooked into the idea that if you buy the latest and greatest, that you’ll instantly become the next Picasso.\u00a0 This is what those corporate demons want you think.\u00a0 Don’t fall for it, or you’ll become just as bad as one of those Apple Mac morons that thinks that sleek and shiny makes them better computer users.\u00a0 Bunk, I say, bunk.<\/p>\n

I want to be the Iron Chef of jewelry.\u00a0 Give me a crow bar and a Bic Lighter and I can make you something nice out of a few coins and a chunk of gravel.\u00a0 That’s skill.\u00a0 Anyone could make stuff out of tools.\u00a0 Even a monkey could be trained to set a stone if they had tools.\u00a0 That’s just too easy.<\/p>\n

I could show you how I did this, but that’s pretty obvious.\u00a0 If you’re someone who has to be “shown” how to do something, then you’re just not going to get it anyway.\u00a0 This kind of thing is just doled out at birth.\u00a0 If you have to be shown how to make something, then maybe metals and lapidary just aren’t what you were born for.\u00a0 You might try something easier and more dogmatic, like accounting or brain surgery.\u00a0 Oh, you could always play with metals and rocks as a hobby, so don’t get down about it.\u00a0 Perk up, and accept that tools suck, and if you want to be an artist, then you’re probably not one already.\u00a0 And, we have enough artists in the world.\u00a0 Sorry.<\/p>\n

Some of you know what I’m talking about.\u00a0 You get it, and you were born with it like me.\u00a0 :::wink, wink:::\u00a0 So, just accept your role as a cubical type person, and keep on scanning the online Rio Grande or Contenti catalogs when your boss isn’t looking.\u00a0 Keep on dreaming.<\/p>\n

I think my next creation will be an gold wedding band made with only Elmer’s Glue and a rubber band ;o)<\/p>\n
