The Conference, entitled \u201cAssets 2010\u201d, will consist of programs in Fine Arts, Antiques and Residential Contents and Gems &amp; Jewelry. <\/span><\/span><span><span>Conference coordinator Kathryn Minard, ISA, CAPP, <\/span><\/span><span><span>and conference co-chairs Irene Szylinger and Catherine Williams and Jim Poag, Gems and Jewelry program coordinator <\/span><\/span><span><span>ha<\/span><\/span><span><span>ve <\/span><\/span><span><span>arranged a lineup of <\/span><\/span><span><span>credentialed powerhouse presenters<\/span><\/span><span><span> for each session<\/span><\/span><span><span>, <\/span><\/span><span><span>a <\/span><\/span><span><span>pair of dynamic keynote speakers, Robert Ramsay and David Ben,<\/span><\/span> <span><span>and scheduled<\/span><\/span><span><span> tours <\/span><\/span><span><span>of<\/span><\/span><span><span> such important venues as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Gardiner Museum of Ceramics, the Bata Shoe Museum, the Textile Museum of Canada<\/span><\/span><span><span>, Corona Jewelry Company, the Stephen Bulger Gallery and a tour of a private residence featuring Jamieson Tribal Art.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>According to Minard one of the main points of emphasis for this Conference is affordability and flexibility. ISA has arranged very generous rates for participants at the host hotel, the Park Hyatt Toronto in downtown <\/span><\/span><span><span>Ontario<\/span><\/span><span><span>. It is close to convenient public transportation and is surrounded by a wide variety of eating establishments for all <\/span><\/span><span><span>tastes and<\/span><\/span><span><span> budgets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>While the Conference will have three distinct sections, participants will be encouraged to pick and choose among sessions to accommodate the cross-over interests of many attendees.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The <b>Fine Art<\/b> program will feature sessions on the art market, contemporary photography, Inuit art, authentication, insurance appraisals, cross border appraisals and report writing. The <b>Antiques and Residential <\/b>Contents program will feature sessions on hallmarks, quilts, Victor<span><span><span>ian, style and design, paperweights, insurance appraisals, appraising pop culture, cross border appraisals and report writing. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The <b>Gems &amp; Jewelry<\/b> program adds <\/span><\/span><span><span>Carole Tanenbaum, <\/span><\/span><span><span>a costume jewelry expert<\/span><\/span><span><span>;<\/span><\/span> <span><span>Dave Sawatzky <\/span><\/span><span><span>from Korite International, the maker of Ammolite jewelry from Calgary<\/span><\/span><span><span>;<\/span><\/span> <span><span>Ravi Poddar,<\/span><\/span> <span><span>a <\/span><\/span><span><span>representative from Ontario based Byrex Gems<\/span><\/span><span><span>;<\/span><\/span><span><span> John Borza<\/span><\/span><span><span>k<\/span><\/span><span><span>,<\/span><\/span><span><span> author of the Rolex Report a<\/span><\/span><span><span>nd Paul Cassarino, ISA, CASPP, presenter of the report writing workshop.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The Conference itself is very reasonably priced beginning at $575 for ISA members with Super Saver early registration which ends January 31.
