platinum.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>I love making eternity bands.\u00a0 Each one is a multi-piece puzzle that requires patience,\u00a0solid but basic techniques and\u00a0math, but no high tech equipment.\u00a0 The design is\u00a0classic and simple, yet versatile.\u00a0\u00a0Here&#8217;s how I made mine.<a determining the number of diamonds needed, I marked and drilled holes where the diamonds would be placed.\u00a0 Then I marked and drilled holes for the prongs.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"mceTemp\">Once I had the band drilled I began to removing the excess metal from around the prongs.<a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I don&#8217;t remove too much metal from around the drill holes.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see why later.\u00a0 I begin is completely shaped.\u00a0 I only carve one side at a time.\u00a0 If I did the other side at this time, the band would be weak and bend as I worked it further.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/larryseiger\/files\/2008\/10\/ygpb1bama11203119-0005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10\" src=\"http:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/larryseiger\/files\/2008\/10\/ygpb1bama11203119-0005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" placed them in the holes I drilled previously.\u00a0 Now you see why I didn&#8217;t remove too much metal.\u00a0 The prongs were tapped in with a hammer and won&#8217;t shift as I solder them the first side using plumb platinum solder, I worked the second side and soldered those prongs on as well.<a https:\/\/userblogs.ganoksin.com\/larryseiger\/files\/2008\/10\/ygpb1bdma11203119-0008-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notice I&#8217;ve pulled the prongs apart.\u00a0 This will keep them from getting in the way of the round bur.\u00a0 Notice\u00a0that some of the prongs have slightly melted.\u00a0 Plumb platinum solder is\u00a0a high temperature solder and the heat used caused some of the tips\u00a0to melt.\u00a0 No problem, that area of the prong will be removed\u00a0after the\u00a0stone is set.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Using a round bur I made space for the pavillion of the diamond.\u00a0 Next I used a hart bur to create the seats in the prongs.\u00a0 To secure the diamonds, the prongs are brought back to their original straightened positions, trapping the stones in place.\u00a0 <a
