I&#039;ve made the pendant using a flower-shaped carnelian stone that is a dark orange (almost red) color with a faceted black onyx bead in the center. The pendant is further accented by another faceted black onyx bead and sterling silver. The pendant measures about 7\/8 inches (2cm) across and 1 3\/8 inches (3.5cm) in length. The chain measures 18 inches (45cm) in length, and closes with a small sterling silver lobster clasp.<\/p>\n<p>About sterling silver:<br \/>Sterling silver is an alloy consisting of a minimum of 92.5% silver (the other 7.5% is typically copper). I choose to use solid sterling instead of plated metal in my work because it is my experience that plating wears off.
