At TIJT we are serious about making jewelry. Sometimes we even work at lunch. On October 13th Sally Bly instucted students and two of our instructors on how to work with Precious Metal Clay. We ate pizza first, to avoid mixing our food and metal clay, and then we got to working. Students learned about making molds with polymer clay, and got to try cutting our own molds with erasers and a speed ball. They also learned how the clay should look and feel. Students experienced the short window of working time that you have with the clay and how to re-hydrate it when it gets dry. Everyone in the class made a pair of earrings that were fired and ready to take home by the end of the class day.
