The bi-annual news letter written by students informs graduates of the activities outside of class that students are involved in and shows some of the talent currently enrolled in school.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">The student association has gone from a part time activity to a full time educational opportunity. Each semester students have a choice of several activities to be involved in. For example; each fall the race is on to see which department can make the best float for the home coming parade. We are proud to say the Jewelry Department has been number one four out of the last five years. Then the talent comes out and workshops are held at lunch and after school where students show their peers how to make wire wrap jewelry, string pearls, cast in cuttle fish bone, rendering and many other interesting techniques. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Current officers for TIJT are:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">President \u2013 Carlos Aguirre<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Vice President \u2013 Misty Sandoval<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Secretary \u2013 Angela Hampton<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Treasurer \u2013 Sarah O&#8217;Hearn<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Parliamentarian \u2013 Shawn Mathews<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\">Activities Coordinator \u2013 Heather Cannon<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology Student Association was created by students as a way to network with the jewelry industry.
