Today I sent in the deposit for the house I’m renting for my two weeks in Tucson and it always makes me eager for February…so, I started going through my photos albums and organizing photos in albums. I keep coming across things I meant to post but ran out of time and never got a chance.
I know it’s old but I found this great video with the Mayor on Opening Day of the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show – AKA The Main Event – to take you back and over the next couple days I will be posting from the show.

I totally agree and if you haven’t taken Antoinette’s Seminar at AGTA – YOU MUST! the education is second to none and her stories from the “floor” will keep you entranced and she is so funny the three hours just fly by!!!!
There are also very good lectures, seminars, conferences. I’m giving a workshop at the GLDA show at Starr Pass that is uniquely designed for bench jewelers and designers interested in learning how to spot the “rubies” now flooding the market–and which are putting bench jewelers at such high risk of incurring loss resulting from damage that will occur when working with them (the heavily lead-glass INFUSED stones now flooding the market simply as “treated” ruby — often 30-50 % glass — and which do NOT respond like “ruby” at the bench! It’s a free, simple to understand, 45-minute workshop requiring only a loupe and maglite, and you’ll be able to spot them BEFORE you work on them! I’ll also cover these in my 3-hour workshops at the AGTA show (also free).
