My childhood, in many ways, was normal. I played baseball, had friends at school, and had a big back yard to build forts and run around. However, in the summers (when I wasn’t at summer camp) I wanted to spend my time working. My first experience working at Ottofrei was picking rubber bands off the floor but around the age of 11 or so my Dad (Steve Frei) gave me my first project. Back in those day the tools from India were very bad. In one of these shipments there were some defective bench pin with the metal holder and it was job to fix them all. Looking back on it, it was a really crummy job but I loved it because I knew I was helping out my family. This is defiantly one of the joys of being in a family business but having a family reunion every time I go to work gets old quick. After my first project I realized I wanted to do more and at the age of 13 I started to do sales. The hard part of doing this job is knowing the over 10,ooo tools Otto Frei sells. Learning the basics was the easy part but leaning what each kind of pliers, hammers, abrasive wheels, Files, and Burs do is absolutely ridiculous. Anyway this is where I am at today learning the jewelry industry, a industry I would not be in if it wasn’t for my Great Grandfather Otto Frei. Now that I am graduating college soon I will get to enjoy the benefits and the hardships of working full time. I have leaned a lot and I want to continue to learn to better serve you. On my next blog I will talk about my trip to India where I picked up some stones and saw a factory.
