About John Donivan
I make things. There’s not a whole lot more to say than that. It really all began when my mother insisted that we all (5 kids) do something constructive with our summers, so off we went to activities and classes. Some were sports, but some were pottery, lapidary, copper working, and others. I largely make my living off of jewelry making, but I’ve also made lamps, furniture, tools, small machinery…… Also some painting and whatever else presents itself. I just love to make things – we rehabbed our old doorbell, so I made a new cover for it out of brass and mahogany with a pierced and engraved aluminum nature scene on it, just for fun. Certainly people call me an artist, but I’m a bit too pragmatic to embrace the label. I just love to make things….
