This necklace has round aquamarine gemstones in graduated sizes across the front. There is a dangle in the center consisting of a large aquamarine stone embellished with sterling silver bead caps with a smaller aquamarine stone below it. The aquamarine is so gorgeous! It is a translucent aqua blue.
The necklace has the most gorgeous antiqued sterling silver chain going around the back, and closes with a small antiqued sterling silver toggle clasp. The necklace measures 18 1/2 inches (46cm) in length.
Aquamarine is March's birthstone. It is a blue variety of the mineral beryl (emerald is the green variety of beryl).
About sterling silver:
Sterling silver is an alloy consisting of a minimum of 92.5% silver (the other 7.5% is typically copper). I choose to use solid sterling instead of plated metal in my work because it is my experience that plating wears off. Properly cared for sterling silver lasts a lifetime.
