I was reading Art Jewelry magazine last night and they have a project in the current issue for “Chain Ladder” ear rings. I adapted their design a little and produced my version. These are made with Calsilica beads with an oriental flavor and sterling silver wire.
While I was working on these, a customer brought over two rubies that were in his grandmother’s estate. The first is a six ray star ruby weighing 41 carats (highly included and poorly cut) but very interesting. The second is a 57.1 carat oval faceted stone (highly included and fair cut, good color) that is translucent. The second is actually quite beautiful. I forgot to take pictures so you will just have to take my word that I was impressed.
