First time being adjudicated.

by Barbara E Jones on August 21, 2011

Lots of firsts for this wire jewelry artist this week. Not only is this my first post on my Ganoksin blog, but I have been invited to be adjudicated at the gallery of which I am a member. So I am feverishly selecting/designing pieces I feel represent my style of wire wrapping. It’s exciting, and I have to admit, I little scary- something I am not used to feeling  you see, after losing my husband so young (him 46 me 49) I’ve pretty much been through “scary” and not much else can shake me. However; I sell jewelry now without having someone look at it with such a discerning eye. I am confident, but understandably still a little nervous.  I’ll know by the end of the month.

I am a relatively new jeweler, starting BR-Adornments just shy of 3 years ago as a part time business. I became a widow at the age of 49 in December 2009. After spending all my married life as a full time mother of 3, I found it nesessary to kick my jewelry business into high gear. I began by taking classes locally, then entered a year long course at Penn Foster School of Jewelry Design and Repair. In addition I have studied under Wire jewelry indrustry leader -Dale Cougar Armstrong. I am a member of the local art Gallery- Gallery East, a co-op of 40 plus local artists, and have another blog -jewelryenthusiast- at WordPress.
