Milling bands

by markmaxwell on May 9, 2010

Bands are really easy with the JWX-30 mill.  the models are milled on the rotary fixture as shown here.  The wax is attached by sliding it on to the shaft of the fixture, and stays in place by means of friction.  The screw fixture to the left of the shaft is used to remove the wax after milling, by rotating towards the wax and pushing it off without stressing the wax.

Many rings can be milled at once on this fixture.  I milled both of these bands at the same time in a few hours.  The inside of the bands will have to be hand finished to the proper finger size, but that is all the additional work needed before casting.
