Studio Shelving Part 1

by Tahira Designs on December 6, 2012

So I know it’s been a while since I posted, and I apologize. Opening a studio is A TON of work!! With that said, I’ve reviewed a few more products for you guys. The first one being an Edsal 36 in. W x 60 in. H x 18 in. D Steel Commercial Shelving Unit I got at Home Depot.  I needed some storage for the pieces the members would be working on in the studio, and I decided to get these based purely on the size. I am pretty pleased with the shelves over all. They are a little fumbly to put together, but very sturdy when complete.

Here are a few tips for assembly that are not in the instructions.  To put the outer posts together, put on some work gloves, stick on post on top of the other and just hit it on the ground. They don’t tell you how to assemble it, so I had to figure this one out on my own. It also helps to have a corner to lean the first post against while you try to connect the second.

Once the first level is assembled, the rest is super easy. Just make sure to count how many holes you leave between the shelves to make sure they are level.

I did notice that some of the pieces weren’t machined too well, so there are a few shards so please be careful!! Wear work gloves!!

So overall I would give this a thumbs up .

The instructions, I would totally give a thumbs down They aren’t very good at all.
