My Bench has arrived!

by valerieaheck on November 17, 2009

My Grandparents came up from Maryland and delivered my lovingly hand made bench! My Grandfather made if for me as my Birthday/Christmas present. This is the best present ever! I cannot wait to start working on it.
The bench came in many pieces due to the fact that it is very heavy and 7 feet long. So I got to help screw things together and level it.
Thank you so much for my bench and coming to visit!

Nice! I have a bench my grandfather made for my uncle, who used it for years. After he retired it just collected dust in his basement. Now I have it. It is old, dirty, worn and has amazing character. I love it. My grandfather and uncle have since passed, but, I never feel alone when at it and if I need inspiration uncle Arthur always answers.

That is one fabulous bench! Now, the first time you put a scar on it, don’t be afraid. That scar and the many others you will put on it over the years are the marks of achievement as you produce beautiful jewelry. Over time they will add to the beauty of the bench.

Wow, wow, wow Valerie! That bench is simply wonderful!!! So much space for all your tools. Enjoy setting up your new space and making some beautiful jewellery. What special grandparents you have.

You are one LUCKY / BLESSED OR FORTUNATE JEWELER however you want to see it. Kudos to your GRANDPARENTS for they are very LOVING / CONSIDERATE AND TALENTED. May you have many wonderful years use with it, and the bench will be a wonderful gift to pass along when the day comes that you are no longer using it. In the meantime make lots of wonderful pieces…………….Barbara

Valerie,
You are SOOO lucky to have such great grandparents – talented, loving and generous. The bench is beautiful. I just bought a used bench this weekend – not half as nice as yours and only half the size but it will be so much better than what I had – and so now I am re-arranging my studio and trying to make it more efficient than before.
Have fun!!!!!

What a beautiful bench and what great grandparents! Did one or both sign and date their masterpiece? If not, next time they visit have them initial and date – you will be very happy every day to see it!
Best regards, JoAnn

I’ve a thousand questions… what kind of wood? What type of joinery in the drawers…. but I won’t. Very nice… now get prepared for the first ding it it. Think of it as “personalization.”

Look at that, a window right above the bench for an exhaust fan. Nice bench. Now you need to mount the flex shaft tool, light, well you know all that. Such fun setting up a new bench.
