“Yes Man”, Hammer-formed brass sculpture, and hour-long video

by shelbyvision on December 14, 2011

I haven’t posted here for a long, long time, been way too busy. Got an order from Artful Home for 140 bird ornaments, took me by surprise, and I really wasn’t ready, so I’ve been very busy. I did this piece, “Yes Man”, back during the summer. I took video of the entire process and edited it down to about an hour, showing how the piece was made, from start to finish. Shown here are a few stills from the video, and pictures of the completed piece. To see the video, go here: http://vimeo.com/29540364.

Very nice! I do allot of faces small and large. The largest yet is 10 ft. tall. I have allot of respect for that kind of work in brass. Very well done.
I would have liked to see how you would have done the eyes but i can only imagine the time it took to do that one. Nice job.

Hi Steve

I loved your video, I found it very useful.
I’m a 36 year old coppersmith from Norway, and I raise copper vessels in my spear time.
Here in Norway,I don’t know any one that makes the stuff your making. So if
I could you some questions sometime,it would be nice.

Best Regards

Kim Andre

I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet, but thanks a lot for putting it up! I can’t wait to see it; I’ll bet it was a lot of work to make it, and I’m sure it will be great.

I love that the top still looks raw and unfinished.
