I think you guys are right about my latest rant it was awfuly small minded I thought that I was being sorta hypocritcal as I was writing that stuff on a computer sometimes I just like to throw some ideas out their and see what others think. These machines are not going away and they will only improve so I guess I had better get outa the way or jump on oh waite it has run me over and left me in the dust to languish in blissfull ignorance. If I knew how to run one of those cnc machines I am sure I would have one but I am more comfortable just doing it by hand. I was offered a kitamura my center vmc for free and I turned it down because it didnt have any handles, I just couldnt grasp having to tell it to do everything. I run all conventional machine tools at my shop and it is very tough, when I have to make somthing more than once. I can definitly appreciate the benefits of cnc, it has made things so much more productive.

Our ancestors did a fine job without electricity so I have a huge advantage. I will wait for the latest gizmos to arrive on the rubbish tip and then see what all the fuss is about. The latest gizmos for jewellery production can be seen in the same light as the latest trinkets on the christmas shelves. Some are good, some are not!
Kevin,
I’ve never see a kitamura, google turned up some really large machines. You would really build some muscles hand cranking them.
One of my mills sort of has knobs but they don’t even have fingerprints on them. Quick ‘manual’ jobs and I use the arrow keys in a jog mode. Same as typing here, no cranks to move the cursor on this computer 🙂
