How is this possible.
For a start.
With Cad, you can create anything your brain imagines or dreams.
I go back to the old days and the old static forms of Cad.
In the old days you made hand made patterns. Everything that was cast in bulk came from making handmade patterns, copies of old handmade patterns that had been cast before, a wax pen or via wax carving.
Now I include jewelry cad programs that only have static cad files. Files that cannot be altered. Files that have not been created with changeable cad History Files.
You sold your goods through catalogues, samples and internet web sites.
Let me explain.
In the old days (Before Cad) production rings for example when ordered were sized in wax before casting by placing a piece of wax in the shank to size it or after casting was either sized up via hammering, stretching or cutting and soldering metal into the shank to increase the size. To make the ring smaller you cut a piece out of the shank and soldered it. .
The hand made patterns were moulded in rubber and waxes formed to create your ring through lost wax.
The same is true for static cad files.
You could not alter the static item.
What you created is what you got.
If a client wanted something changed for say a different stone you virtually have to start from scratch.
Most of these items you see on line are on the basis of what you see is what you get.
In Cad they will sell STL files for printing but that’s it. Or charge you a lot of money to remake a one off. How many patterns made in this way satisfied your client at the first sitting. How many times have you tried to convince them that the ring you created for them is exactly what they ordered but you know they are disappointed.
Again what size, shape and ring you see is what you will get.
