Setting up for a client this morning. He’ll be in a half hour from now, and after working with him on design, center stone purchase and smaller diamonds to go in the ring he’s making, we’ll get going.
He’ll be making a 18K PD white gold engagement ring, with my supervision. This ring will be alloyed out of pure gold and 950 PD, and melted in a crucible. My client will pour his own ingot, roll that ingot out in my Durston D2 mill, and continue on until we finish the ring later today.
All stones will be set after the workshop today, as we will be happy just to get the basic ring completed today.
My clients yesterday, although originally wanting to make each others rings in 18K yellow, they decided, as we began to weigh up their gold and alloy, that they’d prefer rose gold instead. We changed the alloy, and proceeded to melt each of their pre-weighed amounts of metal to make 2 rose gold bands. The rings came out great, and each gave me a huge hug after the workshop. Their rings will be hand engraved on the outside with the words, “love, adventure, contribution” and have a few chocolate colored diamonds and garnets burnished into the ring, as well. I’ll take photos when they’re done.
Maybe a day off someday in the future?

Jay- love the marketing and the great presentation- I am new to metals, but not new to sales and customer relations… I work with people all the time and I love the approach you seem to have.
-Most folks wouldnt assume my job to be about relations… I am a paramedic… but that is what it all boils down to. If you have faith in the person, you have faith in the service.
