I just returned from Phillie and the Buyer’s Market of American Craft. I picked up 2 new galleries which was my goal for the show. Buyers were there but buying conservatively which is understandable. Savvy buyers are anticipating an upswing in consumer purchasing within the next 6-12 months. They will have the inventory on hand while those who hesitated will be left scrambling for new work to entice consumers. Wendy Rosen, president of the Rosen Group which owns and operates the Buyer’s Market and publishes Niche and American Style magazines purchased a one-of-a-kind brooch from me entitiled “Something Old, Something New II”. The brooch is 18kt yellow gold with a pink cobalto calcite drusy, rainbow pyrite drusy, sea-foam green tourmaline, sugalite, and an Idaho river rock with 3 flush-set champagne diamonds. The stones are separated by 5mm, 22kt gold granulated domes and punctuated by 2 more champagne diamonds on each end. It is an honor that Wendy purchased one of my brooches!
Alan Revere, president of The American Jewelry Design Counsel informed me yesterday that I am an Honorable Mention for this year’s New Talent Competition. The AJDC will honor the winners at the JA show in New York this July. I’m hoping to exhibit there this summer in the New Designer Gallery. Wahoo!

The brooch sounds lovely. It would have been nice to see a picture of it. Do you have any images?
