What’s up?

by tschetterstudio on May 23, 2010

It’s been awhile since I have posted a new blog.  I’m gearing up for Niche:The Show in Vegas in a couple of weeks.  I’ll be doing my first retail show in many years at the Bellevue Arts Museum show in Bellevue, Washington in July.  I’m really looking forward to that show because Michael Monroe is retiring as chief curator.  I hope I will get to meet him!  He’s helped my career by jurying my work into exhibits in recent years.  Plus, the Seattle area has got to be better than Dallas in July!

There are some great things happening for Tschetter Studio.  Last month, the book, 500 Gemstone Jewels was released by Lark books. Cindy Edelstein, the juror, chose two of my works.  Yeah!  “Niche” Magazine featured several pieces of my work for their jewelry edition.  A big thank you, Ellen Hertz of Max’s gallery in Minnesota for your lovely words both in “Niche” magazine and on the Contemporary Jewelry Design Group’s website!  Lapiday Journal/Jewelry Artist’s July issue will have an article about yours truly.

After the Bellevue Arts Museum show I am wanting to work on some one-of-a-kind pieces.  I have an “over-the-top” piece that’s been sitting on my bench for several months waiting for completion.  I’m wanting to integrate several techniques I have learned over the years too.  I’ve discovered fold-forming (again) and enameling (again).  I’ll be taking a workshop from Betty Helen Longhi on shell forming too.  By the way…kudos to The Florida Society of Goldsmiths!  They are a very active bunch, putting on affordable workshops throughout the year.  They welcome non-Floridians and their w.s. instructors are always top notch!

That’s about it from hot and humid Dallas, Texas, where my Dallas Stars failed to make the playoffs again. I’m rooting for the Blackhawks to take Lord Stanley’s Cup this year instead.

Dog Days

by tschetterstudio on July 5, 2009

It’s dog days here in Big “D” with temperatures over the century mark, but not dog days for Tschetter Studio.  I’m preparing for my first JA show in NYC later this month.  I’ll be in the New Designer Gallery section and will be honored there by the AJDC (American Jewelry Design Counsel) as the runner-up in their “2009 New Talent Competition” held earlier this year.  The very talented Leila Tai who creates beautifil plique-a-jour enamels won the competition.  The World Gold Counsel recognized my work earlier this year also.  The WGC chose four of my designs for their 2009 “look” book which was distributed at the JCK show in Las Vegas last month.  My pieces were also on display in the WGC’s booth at the JCK show.  A big thanks goes to Cindy Edelstein for the email about this PR opportunity with the World Gold Counsel.

I have a summer read for all of you non-Texans who way want a taste of Texas.  This author is even funnier BEING from Texas!  I’m reading Ben Rehder’s Gun Shy .  Ben Rehder is Carl Hiassen with chewing tobacco!  His other books are equally funny.  Gun Shy will make you forget the dog days of summer are upon us!

2009 Off to a Great Start!

February 19, 2009

I just returned from Phillie and the Buyer’s Market of American Craft.  I picked up 2 new galleries which was my goal for the show.  Buyers were there but buying conservatively which is understandable.  Savvy buyers are anticipating an upswing in consumer purchasing within the next 6-12 months.  They will have the inventory on hand while […]

It’s 2009 and I’m preparing for the Buyer’s Market of American Craft next week in Phillie.  I have new work/new lines of jewelry to show.  I’m always excited to show new work.  The galleries that carry my work love new work too.  I decided not to worry about the economy.  There is nothing I can […]
