What’s up?

by tschetterstudio on May 23, 2010

It’s been awhile since I have posted a new blog.  I’m gearing up for Niche:The Show in Vegas in a couple of weeks.  I’ll be doing my first retail show in many years at the Bellevue Arts Museum show in Bellevue, Washington in July.  I’m really looking forward to that show because Michael Monroe is retiring as chief curator.  I hope I will get to meet him!  He’s helped my career by jurying my work into exhibits in recent years.  Plus, the Seattle area has got to be better than Dallas in July!

There are some great things happening for Tschetter Studio.  Last month, the book, 500 Gemstone Jewels was released by Lark books. Cindy Edelstein, the juror, chose two of my works.  Yeah!  “Niche” Magazine featured several pieces of my work for their jewelry edition.  A big thank you, Ellen Hertz of Max’s gallery in Minnesota for your lovely words both in “Niche” magazine and on the Contemporary Jewelry Design Group’s website!  Lapiday Journal/Jewelry Artist’s July issue will have an article about yours truly.

After the Bellevue Arts Museum show I am wanting to work on some one-of-a-kind pieces.  I have an “over-the-top” piece that’s been sitting on my bench for several months waiting for completion.  I’m wanting to integrate several techniques I have learned over the years too.  I’ve discovered fold-forming (again) and enameling (again).  I’ll be taking a workshop from Betty Helen Longhi on shell forming too.  By the way…kudos to The Florida Society of Goldsmiths!  They are a very active bunch, putting on affordable workshops throughout the year.  They welcome non-Floridians and their w.s. instructors are always top notch!

That’s about it from hot and humid Dallas, Texas, where my Dallas Stars failed to make the playoffs again. I’m rooting for the Blackhawks to take Lord Stanley’s Cup this year instead.
